Hinge Points explores connection as tension, memory, and transition. The work draws from architectural remnants—
wood once used for shelter—and from materials that respond to pressure: leather that warps when boiled, glass that
sags in heat, forms that hollow out instead of holding weight.
The piece unfolds through paired gestures: laying down and lifting up, grounding and suspension, contact and echo. It
reflects on how bodies, structures, and relationships stretch across time—not always to hold, but sometimes simply to
mark that touch occurred. A narrowing, a seam, a swelling in the middle: these are the sites where one form begins to
meet another.
Central to the work is a dialogue between materials that behave differently under pressure. Boiled leather tightens,
shrinks, remembers touch. Glass melts, flows, freezes tension into stillness. These materials do not simply represent
structures; they carry the story of how form holds and lets go.
